Varley Gear Pumps On The Move
17th April 2012
Hayward Tyler is pleased to announce that their Varley Gear Pump division is on the move! The Varley business will transfer from its present location in Luton, England, to Hayward Tyler Fluid Handling Ltd., located in East Kilbride, Scotland.“We are moving this very important part of the Hayward Tyler family of products from Luton to East Kilbride, as there is a natural synergy between the Gear Pumps and the Canned Motor Pumps currently manufactured at Hayward Tyler Fluid Handling, both in terms of scale of manufacture and customer support systems”, states Ewan Lloyd-Baker, Executive Chairman of Hayward Tyler Group Ltd. “Our East Kilbride plant has both ISO9001 Quality & ISO14001 Environmental certification and was recently audited and recommended for OSHAS 18001 Health & Safety certification. With on-time deliveries and RFT processes in excess of 90% combined with the fact that the Scottish Manufacturing Advisory Service (SMAS) selected our East Kilbride facility for a 5S best practice event in 2011, clearly demonstrates to me that they are well placed to integrate Varley Gear Pumps into their product range.”
Manufacturing in Luton is scheduled to finish at the end of May with the main manufacturing plant transferring to East Kilbride in June and the balance of plant including a dedicated test facility to follow on in July. During the transfer period purchased & stocked parts will continue to be supplied as normal to all Varley customers with the manufacture, assembly and testing of complete pumps scheduled to be back on stream for deliveries to commence again in July.
“We are doing all that we can to minimise interruption of supply during the transfer of the manufacturing plant” commented Paul Noble, Managing Director of Hayward Tyler Fluid Handling “and we will work closely with all Varley customers to ensure we meet their needs as effectively and efficiently as possible”.
He went on to state that “Once the product is integrated into our business systems we will look at ways to improve the offering to our customers, but don’t worry we won’t be painting the pumps tartan but rather we will change their colour from the existing Varley green to the traditional Hayward Tyler blue. We feel that this will be a symbolic final stage in the integration of the Varley Gear Pump range into Hayward Tyler Fluid Handling”.
