Our range of remotely maintainable pumps and valves provide an ideal safe solution for radioactive liquids.
Working closely with end users in the nuclear fuel re-processing industry, Hayward Tyler developed a range of pumps and valves specifically designed for maintenance using remote handling equipment. The pumps and valves are normally located below floor level, with great care taken in the design to eliminate radiation ‘shine paths’.
When maintenance is required, the special design features allow the equipment to be withdrawn into a flask for transportation to active workshops with no human exposure to radioactivity. Once in the active workshop, Hayward Tyler’s special design allows the pumps and valves to be dismantled using remote manipulators further avoiding human exposure to radiation.
